Moon River, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
You dream maker
You heartbreaker
Wherever you're going
I'm going your way
Two drifters off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waitin' round the bend
My Huckleberry friend
Moon River and me
Andy Williams never released this song as a single and as a result, it never charted. It was his Theme Song.
There was a preview of the film with all the Paramount Executives. Audrey was there, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mercer (who wrote the lyrics) was there. The screening was finished and the head of Paramount stood up and said 'Well, loved the movie, it's too damn long and that damn song has got to go." Henry turned white and Audrey stood up and said "Over My Dead Body!" Obviously it stayed.
